Insurance, in the right order. Email first, policy second.
Public liability, professional indemnity where the work is advice or treatment, WorkCover Queensland from the first hire, and business email on your own domain before any of it, because that is the address every policy and application is tied to. Pointers, not product advice: we do not sell or recommend insurance.
Three things that happen when the policy comes before the email address.
Policy · in the inboxEmail · a personal addressRenewal · missed
The policy is tied to a personal email. The renewal went to spam.
Insurance, licences and the ABN all take an email at sign-up, and most people give the one they have that day. Change it later and every renewal notice has to be chased. Business email on your own domain is the first line of the plan for that reason.
In practice The entity sheet carries the business email so every policy is opened with it.
Apprentice · started MondayWorkCover · not yetDue · Friday
The first hire started Monday. Cover is due by Friday.
In Queensland the accident insurance policy must be in place within 5 business days of employing anyone. It is not needed while it is just you, which is why it gets forgotten the week it stops being just you.
In practice The platform's compliance calendar carries the first-hire rule as a dated reminder.
The contract asks for a certificate. The quote stalls for a week.
Commercial clients, councils and landlords ask for the certificate of currency before work starts. A broker can usually turn one around quickly, but only if the cover already exists.
In practice The plan names which cover each client type tends to ask for, and which licences require it outright.
How it runs.
01
Email before anything
Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 in your name, $390 set up, so every policy and application is tied to an address you will still own in five years.
Day 1
02
Know which covers apply
Public liability for most premises and clients, professional indemnity for advice and treatment, WorkCover Queensland from the first hire, and anything your licence itself requires. Each line says who tends to ask for it.

Get it quoted by a broker
Any licensed broker can quote the list. We hold no financial services licence, so we do not sell, compare or recommend policies, and the plan does not either.

Before you ask.
Do you sell or recommend insurance?
No. We hold no financial services licence, so the plan names the covers that usually apply and who tends to ask for them, then stops. Any licensed broker can quote the list.
Do I need WorkCover if it is just me?
Not in Queensland while you employ nobody. From the first hire, the accident insurance policy must be in place within 5 business days.
Why is business email on the insurance page?
Because it is the address on every policy, licence application and invoice. Open them with a personal address and every renewal has to be chased later. Set it up first, $390 in your name.
What is professional indemnity for?
The advice or the treatment itself, rather than injury or damage. Ahpra-registered practitioners are required to hold it under their Board's registration standard; consultants find most client contracts ask for it.
Do you only work on the Gold Coast?
No. We are based on the Gold Coast and work with brands Australia-wide. Calls, reviews and handover all run remotely.
